Spring finds

Just so you know looking is a lot cheaper than buying...one of my greatest discoveries during my Lent shopping hiatus!! During my looking, I came across these delightful Spring things.

Im loving the koi on these dishes, one of my favorite things about Japan.
(read about my encounter with them here)

These sheets are so pretty.

This shower curtain should be made into a gown, its that beautiful!

Im really loving the simplicity of these flowery wallpapers, very tempting!

Awkward space

So I have this awkward space where the contractor of this house decided to short change the kitchen and not extend it all the way to the wall. So frustrating!

So naturally I put a horse head on it!!! We already named him Mr.Ed and while he may not be for everyone, he adds that element of surprise that I love and quirkiness too!

So the question remains, should I paint that slice of wall he's mounted on gray, leave it, or extend the wallpaper that I have on the adjacent wall, seen here. I need your opinions, o wise design saavy friends!

You should hear all the conversation that has revolved around him already, hysterical!

On a total aside, look what hubs got me, the lucite coffee table!!!

Spring In Their Step

It's Spring, and that means Pier One is projectile vomiting more deals, finds, buys than ever before.

It's like their September issue for Vogue, that's how much Pier One is excited over the warmer weather.

Sweet, Sweet Fantasy, Baby

So we've all been there... Sitting in your $too-expensive/month apartment, dishes in the sink, weather mild for Spring, but raining nonetheless...
And you... stuck inside, daydreaming.

Daydreaming of a fantasy-like place far, far away from here, there, anywhere.
Well, I've found that place... Fiji, baby.

Favorites Friday: Stripes

I've never met a stripe I didn't like, they are so classic and never grow old in my opinion! Here's some striped love from this week!

I wish we had hardwood stairs, just so I could put a runner down it like this!

I love these dresses!

Clutterbug, Let It Go

We've all been at this fork in the road, when you realize you just have SO. MUCH. STUFF. and you need help. I understand! Here are some great tips thanks to HouseBeautiful's May 2010 online issue to get your life back in order.

Pick pieces with flexibility. The Nelson ottomans by the hearth offer storage and extra seating, and the tops turn over to become trays.

Glass-front cabinets provide great incentives for forcing you — and your family — to be organized. Any clutter or dishware put back in the wrong place will be visible. Try storing everyday dinnerware above the work surface, while hiding the clutter of pots and pans behind closed doors.

This entry is given a formal look with a console and mirror. The console serves merely as a place for lamps and to set down packages and mail. Its limited size means clutter can't easily accumulate.

The secret to keeping clutter and disorder out of the bathroom is to keep all the small, loose items that are used there in separate containers.

The layout of this posh home office includes a large desk, a comfortable sitting area, tons of windows, and few power outlets. Wireless equipment makes it all work. The laptop on the desk functions as the homeowners' main computer, and the printer is out of view and wireless as well.

A large built-in cabinet with open and closed shelves, racks, and plenty of drawers divides the closet into two halves, his and hers. A low bank of drawers provides a convenient place to sit while dressing.

A clean, rectangular wall-mounted box shelf provides a sleek alternative to cabinets, while abundant drawers in a breakfast bar offer copious hideaway storage for items too large for the shelf.

Our living room

Yes, that artwork is hiding our flat screen TV quite nicely thanks to my sister who screwed an L bracket on the top of it!! (such secret squirrels!)

Cushion from Homegoods and sheepskin rug that my husband wanted (love that!) from Ikea!

Cherry blossom artwork from Ikea, commemorating our time in Japan and reminding me I've yet to see the live Cherry Blossoms in Japan or here!!! (shame on me!)

Lucite coffee table from CB2, end table from goodwill ($4), koi fish from Okinawa, and lamp from Homegoods. Find out more about the artwork here.

That little bust is Beethoven and found him plus two others at goodwill all for a dollar!

My husband is the music man, 10 years of classical piano from his lovely piano teaching Mom and self taught on the guitar, did I mention he flies helicopters too?! Crazy talented.

Seahorse is from Okinawa as well as the bowl and Capiz shell balls.

Chairs from Target online, side table from Nate Berkus on HSN, and rug from Westelm.

Just had to show you the gorgeous purple roses hubs got me!

Chair from Pier One on clearance curtains from World Market, sweet German Shepherd "Montana" on loan from a dear friend!
